As rumored, Google announced launching IaaS called Google Compute Engine (GCE) yesterday at their developers conference in San Francisco. The service is intended to attract enterprise developers to Google’s platform and will be demonstrated during the conference but the date of its general release is still unknown. GCE will be highly compatible with Google App Engine (GAE) and users are expected to combine them to form larger applications. It will allow several storage options – local, Google Drive or Google Cloud Storage – and will support 1, 2, 4 and 8 core Linux virtual machines.
