Do companies use cloud computing to store confidential data?
Last year surveys report that an increasing number of companies use cloud computing to store data, while other companies hesitate move their data from traditional servers, primarily because of security issues. There is a concern about the security of all the sensitive data stored on the cloud and companies feel responsible to enhance the security of their cloud data. While some companies believe that cloud provider is the one responsible for the data security, the others, however, realize that they are equally responsible for their data security as their provider.
Business people are increasingly worried about data security and they believe that cloud providers should share this responsibility of providing security because there might be a chance of losing important and sensitive data. Businessmen may often be unaware of the security measures that are provided by cloud providers and just send data to the cloud. Business people don’t want to lose data which they intend to store through cloud computing.
Richard Moulds believed that companies should transfer data on the cloud in encrypted form because such data cannot be accessed without a key. The key is the only means for accessing encrypted information, meaning that the company data is safe as long as the key is under control of the organization. Sometimes the organizations may provide keys to the cloud providers to organize the data. So, we can say that data is still protected in cloud servers.
Surveys say that many business people follow encryption concept to provide security to their data or information stored. People imagine that they can secure data using a security layer on cloud network. Experts believe that security should be managed by cloud providers but there is a high chance of risk in placing data on cloud network. There is always a threat to the date and one of it is, if a hacker attacks your data on cloud network, you need to take extra safety measures accordingly .It is really a challenging task to secure data in the cloud.
Many companies made important changes in their business and transfixing consistent data and the security has been increased. They have been monitoring the data regularly and downloading the reports regularly to keep updates. It is not considered about sharing the personal data of employees in the organization.
The following steps should be followed when securing cloud computing storage.
- 256-bit encryption is done at data secured.
- Create isolate file and no common passwords should be used.
- Set your account to store large amounts of data.
Encrypted cloud files are secure enough if the encryption key is taken good care of. API provides security to the data and it can be accessed from anywhere using the internet connection. Files can be accessed any time using SSL which, together with the previously mentioned security steps, contributes a lot to the overall data security in the cloud.
