In the past several months we saw many cloud storage providers introducing new features to their services. With all the competitors and products it gets difficult to summarize everything that has been done in the cloud during past several months.
Box is one of the companies that made numerous improvements this year. They expanded their market and have been rolling out new features almost on monthly basis, making their product a true corporate cloud choice. After they recently improved the speed of their service adding Box Accelerator, yesterday they announced enhancing another important aspect – security. Realizing that the key question in cloud is related to security they decided to add the features that will help companies gain more trust in service.
Advanced search in the admin console – Box announced improving admin tools back in May adding plenty of features for easier implementation and administration of Box cloud services. Now they are adding more powerful search tools that would enable admins to browse content more easily.
New reporting API and GoodData partnership – Box’s new reporting API allows CIOs and IT teams to extract log data from Box and thus monitor all the activities related to content. The partnership with a cloud based platform that deals with big data monetization may further contribute to organizational reporting.
Two-step verification – Even though Box supports many ways to protect files stored on their servers, corporate data always need a special protection. Two-step verification is a good way to add a layer of security to important files and now Box made it available for individual users and admins.
Integration with ProofPoint DLP – Data protection is one of the crucial concerns for the companies and Box is aware of it. To improve data loss prevention Box decided to make a relationship with Proofpoint, California-based company offering online security solutions.
